About PhoenixCheck
PhoenixCheck is an independent reference and toolset for X’s open-sourced recommendation algorithm. It exists because the growth-tool industry answers a technical question with folklore: recycled 2023 weights sold as current, “algorithm simulators” that never touch the code, and disclaimers doing the work honesty should. We take the opposite bet — read the actual repository, publish only what it supports, and label every inference as one.
Who runs it
PhoenixCheck is built and maintained by a small independent team of software builders
who verify every claim against the repo at a pinned commit before publishing (currently
0bfc279, 2026-07-31). We are not affiliated with X Corp or xAI,
and we hold no inside information — everything on this site is reproducible from
public code, which is the point.
How it's funded
The checker and the data API are free. If that changes for advanced features, the free core stays free — the reference layer is a public good and works better the more people check our work.
